Copy Link is a Chrome extension that copies page links as Markdown, rich-text hyperlinks or plain URLs. It can remove selected tracking parameters, clean notification counts on supported websites and normalize source website names.
When you invoke the extension, its shortcut or its context-menu actions, it may read the active page URL, title and relevant page metadata (such as Open Graph title, site name and application name). When you explicitly select text or a link, it may also use that selection. The information is used solely to produce a cleaned link or show an Original / Result preview.
Copy Link processes page information locally in Chrome and writes the resulting link to your device's clipboard. The extension uses Chrome's local extension storage to keep three cleanup preferences: remove tracking parameters, remove notification counts, and include site names. It does not keep developer-accessible browsing logs, clipboard history or copied page content. On older installations, settings from previous versions may remain locally until a new settings save replaces them.
The extension does not send page URLs, titles, selections or clipboard contents to a developer server, advertisers or analytics providers. It does not use accounts, analytics SDKs, cloud processing or remote code. Pasting a link into another app is a separate action; that app may process the pasted content under its own policies. Browsers and websites may independently make network requests that are unrelated to this extension.
The extension requests activeTab, scripting, storage, contextMenus, offscreen and clipboardWrite permissions to inspect the page when invoked, provide copy options, store preferences and write to the clipboard. It does not request blanket host access or monitor browsing continuously. Chrome's own access restrictions may prevent reading certain pages, including browser-internal pages.
URL parameters are removed conservatively to avoid damaging meaningful links. As a result, copied URLs may retain tokens or information that could be sensitive. Please review a link before sharing it. Clipboard content can remain in the operating system's clipboard until replaced or cleared.
Copy Link’s use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
This policy will be updated if the extension's data practices materially change. For questions, use the developer contact provided on Copy Link's Chrome Web Store listing.
